How to use ZA Study Assist

On any page, click Sign Up in the top navigation bar.

Fill in a username, your email address and a password, then submit the form.

When you see the success message, click Login here to sign in for the first time. Your account starts with 5 free AI pages.

Click Login in the top navigation bar.

Enter the email and password you signed up with and submit.

You land straight in the editor, where your files and AI-page balance are waiting.

Anything that uses AI costs 1 page per action. A few examples:

• Each Smart Study tool (summary, flashcards, quiz, and so on) — 1 page
• Each image you send to the AI Summarizer — 1 page per image
• Each inline AI writing action (Improve, Expand, Translate…) — 1 page
• Each question you ask in Chat with my notes — 1 page
• The Full Study Pack — 3 pages, because it builds several things at once

Your current balance is shown in the editor sidebar. If you run out mid-action, the app tells you how many pages that tool needs so nothing is charged by surprise.

Open the Files panel in the editor, type a name for your new file, and (optionally) pick a template from the dropdown.

Choose the starting layout that fits your task:

• Blank document — start from scratch
• Essay — title, intro, body and conclusion headings
• Lab / practical report — aim, method, results, discussion
• Cornell notes — cue column, notes and a summary row
• Literature review — structured review scaffold
• Exam-prep sheet — a ready-to-fill revision sheet

Click + Create file. It appears in your file list and opens in the editor, ready to type in.

Autosave kicks in a couple of seconds after you stop typing, so you rarely have to think about it.

To save right away, click the Save button in the toolbar or press Ctrl + S (Cmd + S on a Mac).

Open — click any file name in the Files panel to load it in the editor.

Rename — use the rename option on a file to give it a clearer title. The change is saved instantly.

Delete — remove a file you no longer need. On smaller screens you can hide or show the Files panel with the Files button to give the page more room.

Open the file you want, then choose one of the export options from the toolbar or menu:

• Export PDF — a clean PDF that starts downloading right away
• Export as Word — a .doc file you can keep editing in Microsoft Word or Google Docs
• Print — opens your browser's print dialog for a paper copy or "print to PDF"

From the downloaded PDF or Word file you can share it however you like — email, WhatsApp, or a cloud drive.

Use the toolbar for all the usual formatting:

• Text style — bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, superscript and subscript
• Font, size & style — change the typeface, text size and heading style
• Colour — set a text colour or highlight, or pick a custom colour
• Alignment — left, centre, right or justify, plus increase / decrease indent and line spacing
• Lists — bulleted, numbered and tick-box checklists
• Clear formatting and undo / redo when you change your mind

Put your cursor where you want the item, then use the insert buttons:

• Image — add a picture from your device
• Table — drop in a grid for structured notes
• Link — turn selected text into a clickable link
• Horizontal line and page break — divide sections cleanly

Click an inserted image to resize it, wrap text to the left or right, set it inline, or delete it.

Click the Insert drawing (whiteboard) button to open the drawing canvas.

Use the drawing tools — pen, marker, eraser, straight lines, rectangles, ellipses, arrows and text — in a range of colours. Keyboard shortcuts: P (pen), M (marker), E (eraser), L (line), R (rectangle), O (ellipse), A (arrow), T (text).

Save the drawing and it is placed into your file as an image. Need to change it later? Use Edit drawing to reopen the same sketch on the canvas.

Find & Replace — click the search button or press Ctrl + F to jump to a word, or swap every instance for something else.

Zoom — use the zoom control at the bottom to make the page bigger or smaller (25%–100%), or reset it back to normal. This only changes how it looks on screen, not the saved file.

Open the file you want the summary added to, then click the AI Summarizer (images) button in the toolbar.

Upload up to 5 images at once, then click Upload & Summarize. The app reads the text in each photo and writes a summary at the bottom of your open file.

Select a word, sentence or paragraph in the editor. A floating AI writing bubble pops up just above your selection.

Pick what you want the AI to do:

• Improve, Expand, Shorten or Simplify the text
• Academic tone or Fix grammar
• Paraphrase, Continue writing, Bulletise or turn bullets back to prose
• Translate to English or Afrikaans
• Listen — hear the selection read aloud

The result replaces your selected text automatically (Continue adds new text after it). Each action costs 1 AI page.

Open a file with some notes in it, then click Smart Study to open the tools drawer.

Set up the request:

• Subject — pick from 25 subjects (maths, biology, law, nursing, accounting, and many more) so the AI uses the right vocabulary
• Scope — use the whole document or only the text you have selected
• Depth — Brief, Balanced or Deep, depending on how much detail you want
• Citation style — for the Citations tool, choose APA, Harvard, MLA, IEEE, Chicago or OSCOLA

Choose a tool and run it:

• Smart Summary, Key Terms and Explain Simply
• Flashcards and Quiz Me — these open as an interactive study session
• Cornell Notes, Concept Map, Mnemonics and Exam Questions
• Citations, Essay Planner and Counter-arguments for writing tasks
• Full Study Pack — builds several of the above in one go

Open a file, then click Chat with my notes. A chat panel slides in from the side.

Type a question — for example "What are the main causes listed here?" or "Explain the second paragraph". The answer is grounded in this document, not the whole internet, so it stays on topic.

Select the text you want to hear, then choose Listen from the AI writing bubble.

Use the playback controls to play / pause, restart, stop, or change the playback speed to suit how fast you like to listen.

Go to Purchase AI Pages in the menu to see the current balance and the available plans.

Pick the plan that suits you:

• 100 pages — R80 (R0.80 per page)
• 200 pages — R100 (R0.50 per page · best value)
• 400 pages — R250 (semester ready)

Click Choose plan and complete the secure checkout. Your pages are added to your balance instantly.
